Jamaica's Under 15 team recorded their first win from four attempts in the West Indies Super 50 competition on Thursday following a 46 run victory win over Barbados at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. Batting first, the young Jamaicans posted a challenging 289-7 from their 50 overs with captain and player of the match Jordan Johnson notching 93 while Steven Wedderburn contributed 71. Jaden Lorde was the pick of the ‘Bajan’ bowlers with 3-58.
In reply, Barbados were restricted to 243-9 from their 50 overs as Reon Edwards claimed 3-58. Edwin Currency Barnett topscored with 59 for Barbados. The Phillip Service-coached Jamaicans will close out their campaign against the Leeward Islands at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago made it four wins in a row, squeezing out a 6 run victory against the Windward Islands at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The Trinis were dismissed for 231 in 47.5 overs. They then restricted the Windwards to 225-9 from their quota of overs.
In the final round on Saturday, Trinidad and Tobago battle Guyana and T&T will win the title with a victory, but can also take top honours ahead of Guyana if they lose and finish the tournament with more fast bowling points than Guyana who have lost only one game.
