Losing start for Scorpions in regional Super 50

The Jamaica Scorpions made a losing start to their regional Super 50 campaign on Tuesday, going down to the CCC Marooners by 75 runs at the Three Ws Oval in Barbados.

Electing to bat, the CCC Marooners posted 215-8 with Amir Jagoo top-scoring with 60; Ryan Hinds getting an unbeaten 39 and Cassius Burton 32 against Damion Jacobs 2-22 and Nikita Miller 1-36. 

The Scorpions who were set 216 to win, could only manage 140 all out in 39 overs. Brandon King led the batting with 48 against Mark Deyal 3-22 and Keon Harding 3-30.

The Scorpions will next oppose the Guyana Jaguars on Thursday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. 

Meanwhile, West Indies opener Kraig Brathwaite scored the first century of the 2017 campaign as last year's beaten finalist the Barbados Pride had a polished performance to beat the Guyana Jaguars by 145 runs.

Brathwaite scored 101 while Jonathan Carter chipped in with 75, as the Pride posted 302-7 batting first. Veersammy Permaul and Devendra Bishoo ended with two wickets each for the Jaguars.

In reply, the Pride were blown away for 157 with Ashley Nurse and Sueliman Benn bagging four wickets each.

Leon Johnson was the top Jaguars batsman with 55.
