Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government will be going all out to ensure efficiency in the public sector.

During his contribution to the Budget Debate last week, the Prime Minister indicated that the government will be moving to increase productivity in the public sector.

Mr. Holness pointed to the procurement process and public oversight as being critical to accountability and probity.

Stressing that these processes cannot be compromised, the Prime Minister said action must be taken to improve efficiency.

"We are at the point where we have to get our public sector...to be more efficient. But the public sector is not made up of block and steel. The public sector is made up of people. We have to get our people more efficient. Put it another way, we have to get our workers more efficient," he urged.

Mr. Holness was speaking at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Vineyards at Deanery housing development in St. Andrew on Wednesday.
