RJR News has learnt that at a meeting of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) caucus of councillors-elect in St. Elizabeth on Wednesday night, Donald Simpson, who won the Malvern division, was selected as the next chairman of the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation.
Mr. Simpson defeated councillor for the Pedro Plains division and former chairman of the council, Jeremy Palmer, by a margin of five to four votes.
Cetany Holness, Councillor for the Junction division, was selected as deputy chairman at the meeting, which was chaired by JC Hutchinson, JLP Deputy Leader for Area Council Four.
RJR News has learnt that several supporters of the JLP in the parish are upset over the manner in which the selection of a chairman was done.
