Three men, including a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), who are charged with murder were remanded when they appeared before the St. Thomas Parish Court on Friday.
Constable Bradon Logan, Shamalo Panton and Nowayne Ennis are to return to court on May 4.
Their attorney is expected to make a bail application.
When the matter was called up for mention, the attorney told the court that Mr. Panton and Mr. Ennis complained of being beaten while in custody.
However, the police denied receiving complaints from the men or having any knowledge of them being beaten.
All three men were charged with murder as well as illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
They were held on April 4, hours after 33 year old Carl Armstrong was fatally shot in front of children at the entrance of the Grants Pen Primary School in Albion, St. Thomas.
