Patriarch lands first leg of SVL 2-Y-O-Series

Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes' bay colt Patriarch under inform stable jockey Dick Cardenas, landed the first leg of the Supreme Ventures 2 Year Old Series at Caymanas Park on Saturday.

Patriarch who went off as the 9-5 second favourite, made most of the running to come home by three-quarters of a length over the 3-5 favourite Another Vigorous with apprentice Dane Dawkins in the Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy over 6 furlongs.

The second leg of the series will be contested on November 25. The win closed out a double for Cardenas on the 11-race card.

There were also two wins for apprentice Jerome Innis while 16-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta had a three-timer. Racing continues on Monday with a 10-race Heroes Day programme.
