Pakistan beat the West Indies by 111 runs via the Duckworth Lewis system, in the 1st One Day International played in Sharjah on Friday.
Pakistan lead the 3-match series 1-0.
In a match reduced to 49 overs per side due to a floodlight failure at the stadium, Pakistan, asked to bat first by West Indies captain Jason Holder, scored 284-9 off 49 overs, after the stoppage in the 44th over.
The young brigade were in the forefront for Pakistan, as 21-year-old Babar Azam - the player of the match - stroked a majestic century,120, off 131 balls which included 8x4s and 3x6s in 2hrs and 57 mins of batting. Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed, 35, had put on 99 for the 4th wicket, after Sharjeel Khan made 54. It was Azam's 2nd ODI century. Carlos Brathwaite claimed 3-54.
Chasing a revised target of 287 based on Messers Duckworth's and Lewis' calculations, the West Indies batting struggled yet again following their debacle of being swept 3-0 in the T20 series.
Only Marlon Samuels, 46, Johnson Charles, 20, and Sunil Narine ,23, negotiated the slow left arm spin of 22-year-old Mohammad Nawaz 4-42 and another 22-year-old, medium fast bowler Hasan Ali 3-14, as the West Indies were embarrassed, bowled out for 175 off 38.4 overs.
Final scores: Pakistan 284-9 off 49/49 overs; West Indies 175 all out off 38.4 overs, chasing 287 based on the D/L method.
